Dealers and collectors were at first skeptical of the amazing color specimens being offered. The miners offered up videos and photos of the specimens being mined underground, and initial tests on the color showed it to be natural. Big investments were made by dealers from around the world and this beautiful Hemimorphite was a huge hit at all of the mineral shows in 2020. Further testing eventually proved that the color was actually dyed. Phthalocyanine Blue, a synthetic organic dye that is used to dye blue jeans was what the miners used for the color. This blue dye is impervious to solvents and simple testing. The miners had the clever technique of dying the Hemimorphite underground in the mine, so they could provide videos to show it being mined.
